Leon's List - 2023 Week 5

Leon’s List is a weekly post about waiver wire players I’m keeping an eye on.

I took a break last week to catch up on sleep. Sorry to anyone that missed the list. It was going to be mostly about De’Von Achane and Jameis Winston.

Zach Wilson (QB - NYJ)

Zach Wilson looked decent on Sunday Night with over 200 passing yards and 2 touchdown passes. He ended the night with a costly fumble on a botched snap. But we don’t care about that too much in fantasy. All we care about is that he notched 20 fantasy points.

Wilson gets a good matchup next week against the Broncos, who just gave up 4 touchdowns to Justin Fields. It’s also a revenge game for Nathaniel Hackett. So there’s extra motivation to rack up points.

Jaleel McLaughlin (RB - DEN)

Jaleel McLaughlin stepped in when Javonte Williams exited the game on Sunday. He produced over 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown.

The initial reports suggest that Williams’ injury is not that serious and he won’t miss much time. Even if that is the case, McLaughlin is worth a stash. He looked explosive on his runs, which is needed for a team that needs a spark.

Michael Wilson (WR - ARI)

Just like with Zach Willson, I’m surprised that the Arizona Cardinals are… pretty good. They looked competent on offense against two of NFL’s best defenses in Dallas and San Francisco. Could Josh Dobbs be the next Geno Smith?!

I’m all in on their offense, especially their third round draft pick, Michael Wilson. He exploded for 70 yards and two touchdowns against the Niners. I can see him overtaking Hollywood Brown as the lead receiver later this season.

Josh Downs (WR - IND)

Josh Downs is another third round pick contributing on an offense on the up-and-up. He trails only Michael Pittman Jr in targets and catches. I expect his production to increase as Anthony Richardson gets more comfortable in the league.

Zach Ertz (TE - ARI)

See above comments about the Arizona offense and the comments from Week 3 of Leon’s List. Nothing much has changed, Ertz is seeing a high number of targets. Although, I wish he would have caught that easy pass for a touchdown late in last week’s game.
