Leon's List - 2023 Week 14

Leon’s List is a weekly post about waiver wire players I’m keeping an eye on.

This is the last Leon’s List for 2023 as the fantasy regular season comes to an end. I can’t believe I made it 14 weeks with only a missed and delayed post. I hope all those reading enjoyed the list this year.

If you liked my writing and want more, I write another newsletter called Thursday Thoughts. It’s a short email with a few things I found most interesting that week.

Thursday Thoughts has been on hiatus since September. But I’m bringing it back next week!

Joe Flacco (QB - CLE)

Joe Flacco looked decent against the Rams last Sunday. He threw for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns. He scored more fantasy points than Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud, Jared Goff, and Patrick Mahomes.

Flacco has been placed back on the Brown’s practice squad for now. DTR is still in concussion protocol but I think the job could be Flacco’s for the rest of the year.

CJ Beathard (QB - JAX)

Trevor Lawrence exited last night’s game with an ankle sprain. The latest reports indicate that it’s a high ankle sprain. Lawrence could be out for several weeks.

CJ Beathard looked good in relief of Lawrence. He didn’t look as awesome as Jake Browning on the other side of the field. But Beathard was able to drive the Jaguars down the field for a game tying field goal. He went 9 for 10 for 63 yards.

I think this carries over and he’ll be a solid QB2 option.

Elijah Moore (WR - CLE)

Elijah Moore seems to have a special connection with Joe Flacco. He was targeted 12(!) times last game! This was double the next player. Amari Cooper is dealing with a concussion, so this could line Moore up for a huge game this week.

Jameson Williams (WR - DET)

Jameson Williams is having himself a nice back half of the season. Over the last three games, he’s averaged 9.0 fantasy points. He’s also getting involved in the run game, he had a nifty reverse that went for a touchdown last week.

Dontayvion Wicks (WR - GB)

I like to load up on players on high powered offenses. And the Green Bay Packers are on fire lately. Jordan Love is looking like vintage Aaron Rodgers.

Christian Watson is dealing with a hamstring injury after exploding for 2 touchdowns last game. Dontayvion Wicks would get more opportunities if Watson were to miss time.

Bevin Jordan (TE - HOU)

Dalton Schultz missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury. Bevin Jordan started in his place and caught 3 balls for 64 yards. If Schultz continues to miss time, Jordan could in line for a bunch of fantasy points as Tank Dell’s opportunities will be spread amongst the Houston pass catchers.
