Being in Vogue

sketch of Vogue magazine cover

I had to make an exception for this week’s articles. I don’t usually pick articles that are in vogue but these two were too good to let go. Both pieces are written by or about world famous celebrities and offer insight into their worlds. It’s also a huge plus that these stories were influenced by two of my favorite writers.

What I’ve Read:

Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co‑Stars? | Lenny Letter

Jennifer Lawrence pens this refreshing essay about the pay differences between men and women in Hollywood. Her candor, unique situation, and celebrity status make for a compelling read.

A Very Revealing Conversation With Rihanna | NYTimes Style Magazine

Miranda July is one of my favorite writers and does a fantastic job in this profile of Rihanna. It reads like one of her short stories, carrying me deeper into the story with each intriguing detail. I especially loved the ending with its allusion to a fictional short.
