Thursday Thoughts - 07/07/2022

In this short newsletter, I share the most interesting things that I’ve read, heard, and/or watched over the past week.

What I’ve Read:

AXS & RON Issuance

I balanced my crypto portfolio this past week as we entered a new financial quarter. During the process, I grew curious about the stability of AXS and RON reward rates. So I dug into the Axie white paper and Ronin lite paper. I was surprised to find that the reward rate for AXS is stable until June 2025. It also appears that RON farming is constant until the end of the year.

This is not financial advice. But based on this deep dive, I decided to continue staking and farming AXS and RON for the near future. The return rates of ~80% APR for AXS and ~60% APR for RON from the various liquidity are excellent.

If you plan on using these DeFi products, please keep in mind that it’s not risk free. AXS and RON could tank, making the returns worth a lot less than the advertised. There’s also smart contract risks and protocol risks with Ronin. Lastly, there’s impermanent loss with providing liquidity to the LPs on Ronin, especially if exchange rates swing wildly.

What I’ve Watched:

Usher: Tiny Desk Concert

This concert was a throwback to music I listened to in high school and college. I’m amazed by Usher’s signing abilities paired with the live musical instruments. If you like Usher, this is definitely worth the 24 minute watch.

What I’m Pondering:

“Most of what we say and do is not essential. If you can eliminate it, you’ll have more time, and more tranquility. Ask yourself at every moment, ‘Is this necessary?’”

Marcus Aurelius
