Leon's List - 2022 Week 11

Leon’s List is a weekly post about waiver wire players I’m keeping an eye on.

Programming Update: I will be off next week for Thanksgiving, Leon’s List will return in 2 weeks for Week 13.

The playoff picture is still blurry with only four weeks left in the fantasy football regular season. No one has clinched or been eliminated from the playoffs yet. The majority of the league, 2nd to 11th place, are within 2 games.

The parity in our fantasy league mirrors the NFL. There is no clear Super Bowl favorite after this week. The Bills lost two games in a row. There are questions about Josh Allen’s elbow and decision making. The Eagles lost to the Commanders in prime time. They gave the ball away four times. They also couldn’t get the Commanders’ offense off the field.

Switching back to our league, it comes down to 10 teams playing for 7 playoff spots. I’m predicting that 8 wins gets in the playoffs. 7 wins is most likely the cut off but tiebreakers will come into effect. The teams with the most fantasy points will secure the last spots.

I hope everyone is ready for a tight finish to the playoffs.

FAAB Watch

I spent the most FAAB this week with $8. I picked up the Broncos defense and Cole Kmet. Mat was the second highest spender. He picked up Graham Gano for $4.

After ten weeks:

  • Four managers have over $90
  • Four managers have less than $25

It might be time to open the bank and spend some FAAB with the season winding down.

Friendly reminder that the trade deadline is in 2 days (11/17/2022)!

Leon’s List

Aaron Rodgers (QB - GB)

The Packer’s offense came alive last week with 31 points. Aaron Rodgers gained 20.4 fantasy points off three touchdowns and 224 passing yards. This is his first time reaching 20 points all year.

The Packers get the Titans on Thursday Night Football this week. As discussed last week, the Titans’ defense is a pass funnel. Rodgers needs to throw dimes for the Packers to win. I believe he can still do it. The Packers seemed to have figured out something on offense against the Cowboys.

Christian Watson (WR - GB)

What the Packers figured out is that Christian Watson is good. He has been limited most of the season with injuries. But he popped off against the Cowboys for 3 touchdowns and 107 receiving yards.

This is not a fluke. Watson was in 84% of the Packer’s offensive snaps. He also led the team in targets (8) and catches (4). He looked like the best receiver for the Packers on Sunday. And he definitely earned Rodger’s trust with that performance.

It might be worthwhile to pick up both Rodgers and Watson to double dip in the revitalized Packer’s offense.

Paris Campbell (WR - IND)

The Colts started their best QB on Sunday and beat the Raiders. Did it take a new head coach to figure that out? I’m sure Colts’ fans don’t care and were happy with that decision.

Paris Campbell was also happy about the switch. Campbell scored 17, 18, and 15 fantasy points in his last three games with Matt Ryan under center. He scored 3 and 8 fantasy points in two games with Sam Ehlinger as the starting QB. Campbell has established himself as the trusty slot possession receiver in this offense.

Keaontay Ingram (RB - ARI)

Eno Benjamin was released by the Cardinals on Monday. This surprise move pushes Keaontay Ingram up the depth chart. He will be the backup for James Conner. Ingram might be worth a stash given Conner’s injury history.

Juwan Johnson (TE - NO)

Juwan Johnson has been heating up lately. He scored 12 or more fantasy points in 3 of his last 4 games. Through 10 weeks, he has the 3rd most targets amongst the Saints after Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara.

Best Things I Saw

  • The Vikings-Bills game has been talked about, analyzed, and debated at length by now. And there is a good reason for it. The game was wild with mind blowing twists and turns. My favorite play in this game is the one handed snatch by Justin Jefferson on a 4th and 18. Absolutely bananas.
  • The other bit of NFL news discussed ad nauseum was Jeff Saturday’s hiring. One thing that might have been overlooked was his fantasy team. Saturday had to give up his fantasy football team to coach on Sundays.
