Axie Journal July 2021

πŸ“ General Notes

Axie Infinity soared in July across multiple categories. There were all time highs in daily active users and marketplace volume. AXS and SLP followed this trend and also skyrocketed. This caused breeding costs to raise, which in turn slowed down breeding and Guppy onboarding.

There was also game server instability due to the surge of new players. The servers were unstable and mostly unplayable for about 10 days.

πŸ—“ Last Month’s Goals

❌ β€” I onboarded less than 50 Guppies

βœ… β€” I earned more than 25,000 SLP

❌ β€” I bred less than 250 Axies

πŸ’ƒ Breeding

I bred 214 Axies in the month of July. These Axies were mostly plants, birds, and beasts.

My total breeding costs were 135,000 SLP and 856 AXS for the month. This is equivalent to about 20.29 ETH based on the average exchange rate of my AXS and SLP swaps.

I also experimented with a couple of new breeding strategies.

Breed Count 3 Strategy

This experiment involved Axies with a breed count of 3 and 95%+ purity. I bred these Axies once and sold them back on the marketplace. This strategy took advantage of the similar costs between Axies with breed count 3 and 4. In theory, you could get a 95%+ pure virgin Axie for just the cost of breeding.

I did this experiment with two breed count 3 reptiles that were 96% in purity. I ended up with a child that was 92% pure. I ended up selling this Axie because I wanted a 95%+ virgin to start a Reptile farm. Even though I didn’t get the desired result, I still made money with this strategy. Shoutout to DaveVsAxies for this tip.

  • Costs = 0.858 ETH

    • Parent 1 Purchase = 0.283 ETH
    • Parent 2 Purchase = 0.312 ETH
    • Breeding Costs = 0.263 ETH
  • Proceeds = 0.938 ETH

    • Parent 1 Sale = 0.225 ETH

    • Parent 2 Sale = 0.260 ETH

    • Offspring Sale = 0.453 ETH

      • All sales figures include marketplace fees
  • Profit = 0.08 ETH

5/6 Pure 84%+ Virgin Strategy

The second experiment involved 5/6 pure 84%+ virgins. The 5/6 refers to 5 out of 6 body parts matching the Axie type. There is a significant difference in price between 6/6 pure and 5/6 pure Axies. There is also a good chance that the mismatched part would be bred out in the offsprings.

I bought 3 plants that were 84%+ in purity and had one non-Plant part. I looked for parts that were in the ears and eyes because this would not affect the cards. I would say this strategy was a success as I got some 6/6 pure Axies from the offsprings.

πŸͺ Marketplace

I sold 113 Axies for 25.60 ETH after Marketplace fees in July.

I had one stupid sale of a 98% pure virgin Plant Axie for 0.21 ETH. I was not paying attention and listed the wrong Plant for sale. Congratulations to the buyer who bought it immediately and flipped it for double the price.

I purchased 6 Axies for 1.84 ETH total this month.

As mentioned in the Breeding section, most of these purchases were for experiments with new breeding techniques. I bought two Reptiles for 0.5847 ETH and three Plants for 0.7575 ETH.

I also put aside some ETH from the Axie sales to buy a 2x Japanese body part Axie for 0.5 ETH. The 2 Japanese parts are Dokuganryu and Dango. I wanted one of these Japanese Axies after reading about their limited supply and examining their looks.

🐟 Swordfish Guild (SFG) – Axie Infinity Scholarships

I onboarded 34 Guppies onto my team this month. This puts me a grand total of 37 Guppies!

My Guppies earned 103,717 SLP in July. 54,948 SLP was distributed back to the Guppies and 2,074 SLP was sent into the SFG treasury. The treasury is used to fund rewards and events for the Guppies.

I also asked our Guppies to submit highlights from their games. I combined the 10 best plays into a video and uploaded it to YouTube. There were a ton of fun games with amazing 1 vs 3 comebacks and clutch outplays. The Guppies were rewarded with a shoutout and SLP for contributing their gameplay footage.

πŸ“Ί YouTube

I transitioned my YouTube channel from Pokemon and sports cards to Axie Infinity videos in July. This turned out to be the right move as my Adventure mode guide video reached 60,000 views. I am also only 20 subscribers away from 1000 subscribers!

This is a tremendous milestone for me. It took about 6 months and 36 videos to reach this point. I am going to write another blog on my YouTube journey so far. I’ll also do a giveaway and thank you video for reaching this goal.

πŸ“ˆ August Goals

  • Onboard 40 Guppies
  • Breed 300 Axies
  • Reach 2,500 subscribers on YouTube
